Adding Zoom to Your D2L Course
If using Zoom as part of your GU course, we highly recommend creating those Zoom sessions within D2L so your student will access them from your D2L course page.
To do this, you will first need to decide which module you would like to add the Zoom session to.
Once this is decided, you will go to Course Materials>Content and select that module. If you are adding just one recurring session for the course, you may want to create a module just for that Zoom link.
Next, you will click on the Add Existing Activities menu and select External Learning Tools.
From the following list you will select Zoom.
Click on the new item titled Zoom in your module.
Rename this item by clicking on the title, then click on Schedule a New Meeting.
Finally, you will rename the topic, set the date and duration (or select Recurring meeting and choose No fixed time), and uncheck Passcode. Click on Record the meeting automatically (on the local computer) and Save.
Recorded Zoom sessions can be added to D2L for students who missed it. The best practice for this is to locate the recorded Zoom file on your computer (in a folder titled Zoom which is in your Documents folder) and upload to Youtube. This Youtube link can then be shared in D2L as well.
When the time comes to start the Zoom session, click on the Zoom link in your D2L module. From that window, click on the Start Button.
When your students click on the Zoom link in D2L, they will see this window. They will click on the Join button.
If students get the following error..
....they should click on the blue "click here" link and progress to the Zoom session.
